Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum is able to keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency with which you need to manually vacuum. Select a vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, is able to clean stairs and corners and has large bins that will need to be cleaned out every now and then.

The top performers in our tests have good ability to overcome obstacles.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO, are identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. The i3+ is an excellent option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot after it has filled up.

Both robots excel at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors, and they are very good at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles, so it may get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and it may have trouble navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends that you tidy the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the bin and filter clean so they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes about three hours to fully recharge.

2. Roomba from iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot and has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. -- the most important feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 automatic floor cleaning machine plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot via the app or voice.

In our tests, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types, including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin that removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.

We were also impressed with the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the automatic hoover robot to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. Once connected to these services, we were able give the i7+ voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car that is amidst a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system traps allergens, then lets cleaner air into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and collect large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to match the task that is being completed. It swiftly switches from handheld to floor vacuum and back again.

The model also comes with a dock that charges to 100% in around 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments and the wand clip. This is a huge improvement over previous Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The main issue with the V10 is its limited running time. The tests conducted by CR show that its claims to run up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a typical, not an exceptional, run time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. That's still enough run time to clean most of a home that's average size, but not quite long enough to cover every spot (though an additional run-through often does the trick). This doesn't mean that this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and agile than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is noticeably superior on carpets with a low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on a robot. It's capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our tests, and it often passes over the same areas many times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capability of more advanced models like our top choices and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It can get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 in that it has less parts that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses, is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and can better maneuver itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries strips and can be controlled with your smartphone's voice assistance. It also feels more sturdy, has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on both bare floors and carpets with low pile, while providing a wider array of features for automation.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a brand is found on all kinds of home electronics, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the top Rated robot vacuum mop and robot vacuum manufacturers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard tech for navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app provides plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is simple to navigate and use, just like other Samsung devices.

In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. It was not as successful in avoiding taller items like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models that we tested, and this could be a deterrent for certain shoppers.

The app allows you to access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning area. This feature lets you check in on your children or pets when you are away. The filter and dustbin can be washed to make cleanup quick and easy. The Jet Bot AI+ also has a clean station that self-empties and helps keep the robot's dustbin clean and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for hard flooring. The robots come with an extra wide cleaning path, as well as dust bins that are 2X bigger than the competitors. This lets them keep the area clean for longer. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers to clean along edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model comes with AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level depending on whether it's picking up dirt on the surface or embedded dirt. The vacuum also comes with an app that allows users to see a virtual map, remote control vacuum cleaner functions, and schedules. You can also track the status of the vacuum and then send it to the dock for charging at the click of a button. The app also allows you to personalize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum using different colors, so you can easily identify what areas it's focusing on or where it's gotten stuck.

robot-vacuum-mops-logo-text-black-png-original.jpgThe app makes it possible to steer the robot vacuum cleaner for sale manually in the event of need. My living room rug for example is darkly colored which could cause a problem for other robots. The HRV 425BL, however was able to continue to move across the border without registering the cliff. And the ability to program the weekly cleaning schedule is a wonderful time-saving benefit.
